Prehistoric Farm Fishing: Rods, Bait and Cast Choices

Players

Last updated 2026-10-13

Get a rod from Hikomi and bait from Tylo the Fisher at the left side of Home Island’s docks, then cast into water. The October 6 original beginner recording gives a basic-rod price of 150 in-game money, plus separately purchased bait. The October 11 update creator reports a fishing revamp and five new rods, so the older casting scene is a dated example rather than a complete current rod or control list.

Your first fishing trip

  1. Visit the Home docks and choose a rod. Keep the narrated 150 price attached to that older basic offer; no bait unit price was stated alongside it.
  2. Buy bait before casting. In Jurassic Dinoz’s October 5 session, bait runs out while the egg is warming and the creator returns to buy more. An owned rod does not remove the bait requirement.
  3. Cast into the water and follow the current rod’s displayed controls. The older October 6 guide describes clicking/dragging down and steering the mouse toward valuable fish while avoiding bad targets. Those are the original scene’s controls, before the reported revamp.
  4. Read the caught item before counting quest progress or assigning a sale value. The older first-play session names Mackerel, Sardine, Pufferfish and Swordfish; another recording mentions three catchable targets in its scene. Neither is a game-wide total.

Choose the catch for your objective

ObjectiveWhat countsNext action
Kai’s Panthalassa task50 actual fish; any supplied species/rarity or rod. Shoes and bottles do not count.Return to Kai and continue the egg task.
Clara’s first Sky Egg stage20 Pufferfish; source recommends Good Casts.Return to Clara before the 70-rock stage.
Raptor remains questAccept Dr. Ivy’s remains quest, then fish for the quest result.Use the source-reported approximate one-in-100 model, without a 100-cast guarantee.

Aiming for a rare species is unnecessary for Kai’s broad fish objective. Pufferfish is different: the flying guide calls it Rare, says Weak casts do not yield it and repeated Perfect casts favour higher rarities. Read why Good Casts fit Clara’s task before treating maximum cast quality as the right choice for every catch.

Sell fish or keep a reserve?

The older first-play creator reads 5 and 10 Coins during a sale review but does not bind those numbers to named fish. They decide to retain fish for feeding. Keep that reserve decision useful without assigning a fake 5-Coin Mackerel or 10-Coin Swordfish price. Enter the actual value you see, owned-rod state and bait cost in the fishing budget.

For the ordered hand-ins, continue to Kai’s access route or Clara’s Sky Egg route. The remains quest guide separates its rare result from ordinary fishing and the newer boss label reports.

What is the best fishing setup for the quest?

For Kai, any supplied rod/species/rarity can count toward fifty actual fish, excluding shoes and bottles. For Clara, buy rod and bait from Hikomi/Tylo at Home’s left docks and aim for Good Casts for twenty Rare Pufferfish. Those are different goals: repeated Perfect casts favor higher rarities in the source and are not automatically the fastest Clara plan. No complete numerical rod tier list or measured optimal catch rate is supplied.

Where can I find Sardine, Swordfish and other fish?

The October 5 session names Mackerel, Sardine, Pufferfish and Swordfish. Mackerel is recorded at Home water; the other older catches are source-session records, not a current full lake or island spawn map. The Pufferfish guide permits a body of water and gives the quest quality choice. The October 11 revamp/five new rods means older mouse/drag controls remain dated rather than guaranteed unchanged.

Is selling fish worth it?

The recorded five- and ten-Coin values are not attached to named fish. The creator keeps fish for feeding; do not invent a Sardine sale price or food-restoration recipe. Enter your actual values in the supply budget and keep the registered objective separate from cumulative inventory.

Where to find Sardine: location, map route and unlock requirements

Sardine is named in the older catch selection at 8:12–8:14 and caught at 9:49 in the 5 October session.

Is Sardine worth it? Best use and tier comparison

Keep this named catch and older cast context. No individual Sardine sell price or cooking recipe is supplied, so the best-sale/recipe comparison remains a specific gap rather than assigning the creator’s unbound 5/10-Coin values.

Sardine: the recorded catch scene

In Jurassic Dinoz’s 5 October 2026 first-play video, Sardine is named among the available catches at 8:12–8:14. At 9:49, the narrator names a Sardine in the catch alongside Swordfish and Pufferfish. This gives a dated example of catching Sardine; it does not establish a catch chance or a Sardine-specific bait requirement.

The recording predates the reported 11 October fishing revamp. Use it as that session’s catch record rather than a guarantee of the current catch pool. The Sardine card keeps these scene details with the other recorded fish.
